What is imitation leather?

Imitation leather is a versatile material that is very popular in craftsmanship. It has a surface that both feels and looks like real leather, but is made without animal skins. Faux leather is made from textile fabrics and coated with PVC, polyurethane or polyester. In this way, the typical grain structure of leather is imitated. In this day and age, you can hardly tell the difference between this and real leather, that's how well imitation leather is made


What are the advantages of imitation leather?

The biggest advantage of imitation leather over real leather is certainly the favourable price. Real leather is very time-consuming and expensive to produce, and due to the natural characteristics of animal skin, there is often a lot of waste.
