• Other competitors: = Direct-coated chipboard: These boards are directly coated with a thin layer of melamine resin. They are less resistant and wear out after a few years.
• Thin plastic films: Thin PVC or PET films can be laminated onto chipboard or MDF to create a decorative finish. These are generally less robust and less durable than HPL.
• Simple colour coatings: Wood or chipboard can be painted directly, and while this can create a nice finish, it does not offer the same protection or longevity as HPL.
